Shameless self-promotion

Welcome to the new readers who have found us through Aish.com! We hope you enjoy the show.

For our existing readers who aren't on Facebook, and thus haven't seen my shameless self-promotion there, I had an article published on Aish.com. Please to visit and read! And hopefully, ponder.

VERY interesting article.
The first comment from Ruth Houseman totally missed the point, but whatever.

I used to have a friend at camp who would tell me to 'go kiss your pesel (idol)' when the torah was paraded around to be kissed, because that was the reaction of the group.

Things to think about...

Thanks, Jess! I've had the discussion about kissing the Torah with many people. All depends on what, exactly, you think you're kissing. Are you kissing a pretty velvet cover of a scroll of parchment, or are you acknowledging the holy words from G-d that are contained on that parchment?

I think sometimes people forget to think about the difference, for sure. Which does, if you look at it in a particular way, make it idol worship.

Although, as with everything Jewish, we could argue that one til the sun goes down ;)

I like the shameless self-promotion. I have to get a little less swamped and find time to invite you for coffee sometime...
